Port Poached Pears
Ingredients
| 2 cup | your favorite port wine | | 1 cup | sugar |
| 3 | cinnamon sticks |
| 6 | cloves |
| 1 | vanilla bean |
| 6 | Bosc pears |
Directions
In large saucepan, combine port, sugar, water, cinnamon sticks, and cloves. Split vanilla bean in half and scrape the tiny seeds with the edge of a knife. Place bean and seeds in sauce pan. Simmer, stirring occasionally over medium-high heat until sugar dissolves. Meanwhile, cut pears in half and remove core and stems. Add pears and simmer for 30-45 minutes, turning pears occasionally, or until they are tender. Remove pears from liquid. If necessary, continue to simmer poaching liquid to reduce to a sauce. Drizzle sauce over top.
